Day At The Show III Recap
by Tom Evans Krause, Saturday, July 12, 2008 @ 10:45 PM

It was another great "Day At The Show"!  For the third consecutive year, players from the PSSBL participated in exhibition games at Safeco Field and enjoyed a major league experience for a day.  Nearly 60 players, representing every one of our eight divisions, took part in an exhilarating experience while raising money for the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Several courageous Make-A-Wish kids, battling life-threatening afflictions, came out to throw ceremonial first pitches.   A lot of money was raised for Make-A-Wish, which means another 2 to 3 kids will have their wishes granted.  We'll publish the exact total in a future post.

In addition to acknowledging the players who paid a premium fee to participate, special thanks go out  to KOMO 1000 Newsradio, Parker Staffing Services. the Seattle Mariners, Safeco Field, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Edmonds Printing, A Cappella Joy, Rob Kendrick, Steven Sterne Photography, PSUA, NBUA, Tom Layson, Brian Rogers, Scott Dillinger, Greg Duff, and John Cosfol.

Player Eligibility
by Tom Evans Krause, Saturday, July 12, 2008 @ 10:29 PM

Here are several important reminders about PSSBL League Rules.

*Only players who are listed as "Active" as of July 15, 2008, will be eligible to participate in the PSSBL post-season.

*If an ineligible player is used in a game, that team will forfeit the game.

Any status listed other than "Active" on the League web site will mean the player is ineligible.  Any player who plays in violation of the PSSBL Taxi Pool Policy will have been an ineligible player.  If a team allows a player to take the field who has not been contacted according to procedures and system for making a Taxi Pool Player Request and obtaining a Taxi Pool Contact List, said player is ineligible to play.

If you have a question about player eligibility, please contact Eric Koosmann at Treasurer@pssbl.com, Jack Hagel at Playeragent@pssbl.com, or Tom Evans Krause at President@pssbl.com.

PSSBL vs. Everett Merchants Charity Game
by Tom Evans Krause, Friday, June 27, 2008 @ 2:48 PM

 PSSBL ALL-Stars  8   Everett Merchants  7

It was a beautiful night for baseball Saturday, June 28th, at Everett Memorial Stadium.  A PSSBL All Star team was invited to play the Everett Merchants in a benefit baseball game hosted by Veterans of Chapter XVI Society of the 173rd Airborne, Chapter 16 US Special Forces Association, and ARVN 81st Airborne Rangers.

The PSSBL team took an early 6-2 lead, but the Merchants battled back to tie the game 6-6 in the 8th.  The All-Stars scored two in the top of the 9th and held on to win, surrending one run to the Merchants in the bottom of the frame.

                                                          PSSBL All Stars

The real winner Saturday night was the Montagnard Children's Programs.  Money raised for the event will be delivered to children at the Leper Colony in Kon Tum, Viet Nam as well as assistance to TeeBall Vietnam.  The tee ball program includes construction of a certified little league ball field.

Earlier in the day, there was an excellent free youth baseball clinic for boys and girls ages 7 to 12 taught be Everett Merchant Players and Coaches.

New Updates Blog
by Ken Perkins, Wednesday, June 25, 2008 @ 5:15 PM

I've added a second blog to the PSSBL site, which, from now on, will be the only place you'll see updates on new site features. From now on, the home page blog will be maintained by Tom Krause and the rest of the board for important league news. Of note, I've added a team batting page per division, you can see an example here. In order to see the site updates blog, you can click on the "Recent Updates" link at the bottom of any page, or go to Community->Blogs. Of course, you can also click here.

Updated Schedule Page
by Ken Perkins, Wednesday, June 18, 2008 @ 8:55 AM

I've updated the schedule page to now show the games scheduled for today by default. You can see the set of games here. Additionally, I've made some minor modifications to the menu bar that should make it a little easier to browse around; Now, you click on the section you want to go to, and additional links show up in the sub menu bar. I still have lots of little updates to make in the next few days, but I think we're starting to see some stabilization. And it seems the forums are starting to pick up some steam. Have a great day, and maybe get out and watch one of our two weeknight games tonight.

New PSSBL Homepage & Community Features
by Ken Perkins, Monday, June 16, 2008 @ 7:17 PM

We're having some problems with the new update. Please have patience while we work through them, I expect the problems to be resolved some time this evening.

Update 12:38 AM: I think I've got most of the new home page updated and working. There are still some broken links, and some other small bugs outstanding, but most of the major issues should be fixed. There may be issues I'm unaware of, so if you see any odd behavior, please post the problem with the details in our support forums. With the new updates, there is a blog on the PSSBL homepage, and the forums are back! You need to be logged in to use the forums (this will keep down spam), but otherwise, feel free to make use of them. In the near future we'll be adding lots of new stuff including private forums/email lists per team.
